Analysis of a Blog

It is interesting how someone can reject society, but with that rejection still takes the time to participate fully with it. Analyzing this blog was an interesting task; I was drawn to it because of the tags on it. The blog was in the “Gothic” section and she deemed herself a pagan and a practicing witch. A highly creative front that never the less had nothing to do with the blog

The blog defiantly has a downside in that its placement was in the wrong category on the main site. The self proclaimed “Gothic” blog turned out to be mainly about environmental issues and shopping. The blog drew my attention, because I thought it would have dark connotations. The author in this case used false placement and a false headline to draw more views. Though she said she was a practicing witch there fails to be a reference to any such practice in her posts.

The intended reader of the audience should be those searchers of a darker or gothic background. Since the posts are all uplifting and high spirited she alienates the intended audience of the blogs placement. The readers visiting the blog are probably interested in her lifestyle. Again the headline misleads them into believing that she might live off of nature but it turns out her and her husband live a nice life both with hard working jobs.

The blog is organized into more of a diary/ranting. There is no particular order of timeline into which the posts are made, but the author does keep them up regularly. Her style is to write about things that the reader should avoid, rants about her latest shopping expedition, and even takes time to analyze a new product she has tried. The most interesting posts are her call to action posts. She takes the time when an injustice has occurred to inform her readers that they must take action.

The blog lacks and overall strong message, but it does have a underlying one. She gives a reassuring tone to her posts. All of them are situations that many other people have or will come across. She makes it an effort to show good judgment when making them, but also offer advice on what to do in the same situation. In essences she has become the voice of the readers conscious. Which is what a good blog should do, provide the reader with some kind of feedback that they can take into their everyday life.

The author of this blog may have a good message, but it is hidden deep within the unorganized posts. If she had taken the time to create several blogs chronicling the different aspects of her life she would have been more effective. To this end she has created a new touch and maybe has reached out to the subscribers she tricked into viewing the blog.

My concerns

  1. I wonder how much of the rain forest my kids will be able to enjoy
  2. I wonder if my financial aid will eventually cease because of the economy
  3. Will there even be a need for Vet's in ten years
  4. At the rate I am going now i wonder if I will be able to make it through 7 more years of college
  5. I wonder if my mom's health will ever improve

Community Spears

In my community there is several venues that the public uses to communicate with one another. Places such as local grocery stores where one can display for sale signs or lost item signs. Message boards such as that are all around, they appear at the local bowling alleys, on telephone poles and at meeting places such as the library.

The local government has a traveling City hall. The city hall meets in new places each week to discuss issues. After the meeting they yield the floor to the public to discuss problems or concerns. Another great public spear is the local channel 7, which is a community outreach channel. 24 hours a day it displays community events, bulletins, and general info on upcoming meetings.
